I believe the right to due process is 1 of the most important rights we as American citizens or just as people in the American borders enjoy. This right is listed in the 5th Amendment but examples of it can be found in all different parts of the Constitution.

Without this right heinous or infamous crimes could change the view of the jury or an already impartial jury could have been selected to ensure that the person was convicted. This could make the real criminals escape unnoticed. You can see that you can that there are many ways that you can be unjustly convicted of a crime because of an impartial jury without this right to due process.

Money in civil cases can even be lost without the right to due process. Laws could be made to say that you are guilty and send you to prison too. Due process prohibits that and can save you from going to prison without an impartial jury and judge using due process to prove your innocence or guilt in a fair and Constitutional way.

It would be hard to imagine living in fear that if you government could just send you to prison for an unjust cause. The government could just not like you and convict you solely for that selfish reason. They could even make up evidence and make you look guilty of murder or something worse. You might even be sentenced to torture or death.

We as Americans also can impeach our president for wrongdoing of any sort if we use the rights of due process against him. Using due process means that usually for whatever reason that if an innocent person is being tried for a crime the evidence will and should not point to them.

Congress makes great efforts to protect this right. The Congress is not allowed to make laws saying that someone is guilty of a crime. Another very important protection our government gives us is that a jury must be impartial
